So; I received this set of 15 brushes from KKCenterHk. I love this kind of sets. They have almost every brush you could possibly need. I already had 2 sets similar to this, one at $2,99 and the other at about $5-8. The set I am reviewing costs $13,50. I've got to say that this set is waaaaay better than the cheaper ones. As someone who buys the cheapest version of everything possible, it pains me to say that the quality of paint brushes shows in the price. The all the brushes are perfectly soft and pointed (at one angle at least). The detail brushes are the textbook definition of perfection. Seriously.
Btw: Use the code "brushmeblush" to get a 10% discount when buying from KKCenterHk.
And to show you these brushes in work I have prepared 4 video tutorials for you.
from left to right: video3, video1, video2, video4.
Oh, and go follow me on YouTube :)
So I have finally done a tutorial for this. I would have done one it sooner but, I ran out of matte polish. I had a matte top coat form h&m, it was perfect. It dried so fast and looked so perfect. Every time I go to h&m I buy the matte top coat. I have five of them, only the first one works. The last four have taken ages to dry and dried shiny. Such a shame.
So I got a soft pink matte polish from Born Pretty Store. Gosh, this took ages to dry (6 min). It is completely opaque, which is amazing for a pink polish. Quite easy to apply and smells amaaaazing. So with the help of the tutorial you can have nails that taste and smell sweet (I replaced the salt with powdered sugar).

There are sooo many more cool designs I could do with matte polish, I need to get more of it...
Okay okay okay, I know I was supposed to post this Monday, well I actually did write it on Monday. But, I clicked save instead of publish. I have been without Internet access ever since Monday. So when I finally logged on in horror I realized the post never got out. Sorry about that.
I have never been too eager to film a tutorial. Generally just because I haven't watched a single nail art video tutorial in about half a year. They are always way too long and waaaaay too boring. So I have tried to make my video as short and fast paced as possible. Also note that I did the video just before going on vacation and as I have told you I cut my nails off. But I felt quite bad about having nude nail on camera, so I did a few coats of Shooting Stars by Maybelline, an absolutely amazing blue (Maylelline's polka dot collection is the most gorgeous thing ever.) Enjoy the video.
Yes, I know that 31 is more than 30. But, I didn't want to end the challenge with a Nightmare Before Christmas design. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it, it's just very impersonal. So to today's design I have included the pink panda from my logo.
Paint nail white.
Paint the tip in thick acrylic paint.
Paint the silhouette of the panda.
Fill it in with white.
Fill in the paws, ears and tail with pink (at this point I realized that the panda looks too thin, so I made him fatter. Nobody likes a anorexic panda.
I can't believe it's the last day of my french twist challenge. I am actually quite relieved because I don't have to worry about getting a tutorial posted every day, but I am also going to miss it. I am planning to do another one in some time (it can be anytime from March to December). So, I would like to know: whether you prefer full hand manicures or tutorials. I am really wondering if the tutorials help at all... Also: Would you like more difficult or easier designs.
Paint nail dark blue.
Paint a black french tip.
Paint a fence.
Paint the moon in yellow. (I have never seen the movie, I am just guessing that's the moon)
Paint the cliff (or whatever the swirly thing is called).
Well, it's not actually a caviar french, but I did use micro beads to do it.
As it turns out some/most of my readers think that I love french manicures, and that's why I am doing tutorials. That's wrong. I hatehatehatehate french manicures they are sooo boooring. I am doing a french twist challenge to give people ideas to avoid doing the classical french. In my opinion the french manicure is like the definition of fake. I think so because all the false nails I have ever seen in a store come with the white and beige french.
Also another reason I started making tutorials was that I have a lot of french tip guidelines and didn't know what to do with them. Yes, it's as simple as that :)
Paint nail nude.
Paint a edged blue french tip.
Glue on a rhinestone.
Surround the rhinestone with micro beads. (the micro beads are stuck on with top coat.)
Cover up the line between the blue and the nude with micro bead swirls.
A few days ago I used to word "BOOM" in a blog post. From that I was inspired to create a comic book design. I have always wanted to create something like this. But it's too simple for competitions so I just buried the idea.
Paint nail bright(or neon) pink.
Create a pattern of small polka dots.
Make a jagged half moon in black.
Fill it he half moon with white.
Add words like BOOM and POW.
To get a 3D effect paint a part of the letters in a lighter color.
It's Saturday night!! This is THE night to have fur and let yourself go. So, what crazy stuff am I up to tonight? Well, I am going to paint my nails and eat a lot of cookies. Some may say that I am antisocial, but what could honestly be better than a cookie :D.
The design today is a simple dotted french twist with a pink flower. (look how perfect the black tip looks)
Paint nail silver.
Paint a black french tip.
Make a dotted pattern on the nail.
Paint a pink flower on the tip.
Shade the flower (This is a terrible example of shading)
Once again I forgot to upload a design on time. This time I actually wrote the post (which I now actually changed) but forgot to upload it. That is like the most pathetic excuse I have ever heard. Nevertheless this is a patched design. I thought it would be boring to have simple squares so I added a heart as well.
Who could have guessed it, it's ANOTHER flower french. I don't know what's with my obsession about flowers lately. Before I painted them very rarely. I guess they simply make up a great tip. Also some of the pictures turned out weird, it's like I have duck nails.
Paint nail nude.
Paint a flower in the edge of the nail.
Paint anther flower under it.
Outline in white.
Paint a purple center on the pink flower and vice versa.
Paint white circles in the centres, and add a flower.
Some/Most of you probably don't know what Desigual is. Well, it's a Spanish brand that makes amazing clothes. So this design was inspired by a desigual shire (a picture of which I can't find in the moment).
I love anything striped, especially black and white. So I decided to use stripes on a french manicure. The stripes and the yellow were quite boring so I added pink and red roses. And BOOM, that's how this manicure was born.
So, today's mani is inspired by the wings of a butterfly. I simply adore the bright sparkly pink. Although I have no such color, nor the memory of mixing it.
I recently I had a mild essence haul, and bought some awesome glitters. Essence is definitely my favorite nail polish brand. It's literally perfect. The brush is flat and wide, the texture is great, it dries fast, has great colors and it's so cheap. I just did this design to show off one of my newest nail polishes :)
Today's nail art tutorial is inspired by the bright yellow tape used in most crime series. Being a huge fan of anything criminal (I mean show), I felt the need to do these. The tape is supposed to say "CRIME SCENE DON'T CROSS".
Paint nail nude.
Paint a crooked black french tip.
Paint tape in white.
Paint the white area yellow
Paint outer lines.
Paint as much of the sentence "CRIME SCENE DON'T CROSS" on the nail.
Today I have a stamped french manicure. You'll have to excuse my poor level of stamping. I stamp very rarely, only when I am too lazy to do nail art and don't feel like a one color manicure. I also know that there are a lot of people who can't do nail art. I don't want anyone to feel left out :D. You can use basically any stamping plate. Preferably it would have flowers butterflies stars etc.
Paint nail black
Paint a cloth pattern (do thin horizontal stripes, and cover them with some vertical ones)
I feel like I am repeating designs. For now I have done about 3 flower french tips. Well, they are all very different but It still feels like the same thing :). Anyway, I hope you don't mind the growing amount of flower frenches (nor my pointless rambling in the beginning of each post).
As some of you know I did a screen muncher nail art design a while back. So, today's tutorial is strongly inspired by it. Simply the muncher I have here is only on the tip and looks very mean.
Well the dead french sounds quite morbid, but what else could I have named it? (corpse french?/Night of the dead french?)
Anyway it's another Halloween inspired french twist.
Paint nail beige
Sponge some gray on the tip of the nail.
Sponge some black on the tip, without covering the gray.
Sponge some purple (preferably metallic) on the tip.
