Japanese Mixed Manicure

Today I have a Japanese inspired nail art design to show you. Most of the design is done in acrylic paint. I did these just to brush up my one stroke technique. This time you can actually see the Japanese letters. I think the nails look great, the color combination isn't perfect but I can live with it ;)
In case you can't tell i would like to point out that I am holding a fan in this picture.

Dragon Nails

Today I have a dragon manicure for you to see. Dragons are one of my favorite "animals". What could possibly be cooler than flying and breathing fire? NOTHING.

The roses look stunning.I also adore the combination of black, red and silver. AND I added my name in Japanese, which you can't see at all.

Christmas Angel Nails

Thanks for my new found bravery towards trying new things, I have decided to enter an gel nail art competition. The competition is hosted by Gel II by Milena Productions. You can find it here.
I have never tried gel before, but the prizes are amazing so I decided to take a risk and buy the gel polish.
The first prize is $1000 cash + 1 led light + 10 Gel II Colors. Now that's the most amazing prize I have ever seen. I swear if I win this I will do 30 nail art tutorials only using Gel II. And walk through every salon within 10 km of my house and advertise the Gel there :)

The gel itself was unbelievably easy to use. I (like always) was prepared for the worse. The web page says that the gel dries within 60 seconds, I took me about 120. Probably because my LED light is the cheapest you can find. Otherwise it is everything the page advertises it to be.

Feyling Duplicity Nail Art

This is my entry to Feyling Duplicity nail art contest. The competition has ended by now but feel free to check out the page :). Feyling Duplicity is a fantasy book. It has something to do with fairies and vampires (from what I have understood). You can read a summary here. I didn't win, but anyway I am posting my entry here.

Legend of Zelda Nail Art Tutorial

Here's a design that I did for Nails By Niqua Video Game Nail Art Contest
I also did a tutorial for this design. The tutorial is strongly lacking quality but it's better than nothing :)

This design was done on acrylic nails. I think the nails are pretty good considering my two day experience in acrylic nails. I was really afraid of acrylic nails, but I got over it. Now I really like doing them. The only thing I hate is gluing the tips to the nail. I can't stand nail glue. I hatehatehatehate it. anyway here is a brief written tutorial of how to do acrylic nails my stile.
  1. Make sure your nails are clean.
  2. Buff your nails.
  3. Apply primer to your nails.
  4. Find the right size tip for your nail.
  5. Find glue to stick the tip to your nails.
  6. Realize that your only glue is about a year old, and has turned into thick sticky mass.
  7. Try to apply the "glue" to your nails.
  8. Glue the tip to your nails, press the tip to the nail until it has dried.
  9. While the glue dries, accidentally glue the nail buffer to the table and a nail art brush to the keyboard.
  10. Groan.
  11. Dip a acrylic brush to acrylic liquid and then to acrylic powder.
  12. Apply the acrylic to your nail.
  13. Wait for it to dry.
  14. Use alcohol to unstick your fingers from the brush and your hair from the wall.
  15. repeat for all 10 nails.
As you probably can guess this isn't exactly the best way to do acrylic nails.

Breast Cancer Awareness Nail Art

I did these nails for Ooooo Shiny's nail art contest. The theme is: nail art for a cause. I decided to do cancer awareness nails. I chose this theme because cancer is a very close disease to me. Many of my relatives have suffered cancer. Sadly, not all of them have survived. My mother was diagnosed with cancer 6 years ago. It was a very depressing time to everyone who was close to her. She had to have surgery to remove the tumour. During the operation the doctors found out that there was no cancer. She was misdiagnosed (phew).
Now she is happily living her life cancerless. I am lighting a candle to remember everyone that has been killed  by cancer. I invite you to do the same.
